Services

Someone much smarter than me once told me that when you are knee-deep in a project, whatever it may be, your world becomes consumed by it–every idea you come up with exists inside a bubble of your own creative process. Every concept is a promising one, every phrase or sentence some magical blip that was destined to be scrawled across the page in all brilliance!

So exists the role of the editor.

Great work takes pruning, hell–all work that wants to be taken seriously needs some kind of second glance. For this, I have included the types of editing I do and how you can take advantage of those services.

Proofreading

A lighter read-through of whatever you need proofed; scanned for grammatical errors and other common issues. Available to proof anything from professional emails, to casual short stories, school papers, or freelance work. Open to longer and more intense editorial proofs as well.

This service is continually available as part of the Professor Plum donation membership tier on my Patreon page.

This service is free for one-time editing requests.

Copy Editing

A level above proofreading, copy editing checks for all grammatical, punctuation, and spelling mistakes, while also editing for the specified ‘style’ of your work. For example, some pieces require formats such as APA, Chicago Manual, or MLA. I am available to copy edit any work you may have, including up to college-level essays, journal articles, freelance pieces, and any other projects needing a second pair of eyes.

Developmental Editing

Deeper level editing that involves conceptually analyzing the piece as a whole, while making stylistic suggestions about directions you can take with your work. I address tone, structure, and flow, as well as provide feedback on places of disconnection. This is meant for work that is rougher around the edges or in the early stages of development.

Words are hard. Especially when you are trying to arrange them in some impactful way. In today’s age, there is no denying the fact that almost every job or career out there will require you to perform some level of writing. Written interactions between co-workers, employees, bosses, and friends are only going to continue to grow in regularity–there’s never been a better time to hone your skills then right now!

So exists the role of the tutor.

Extra courses can be pricey, a full degree even more so–plus its time consuming. As a solution, I have included details on the tutoring and mentoring I do and how you can take advantage of those services.

Tutoring Details

With a robust background in English, style writing, essay writing, research writing, format, grammar, spelling, structure, and motivation, I provide the dedicated, personalized services of mentoring and tutoring.

  • Tutoring can provide a huge boost in refreshing and sharpening abilities in English and writing, and gives you a person who is completely focused solely on your success.
  • Mentoring is vital in the space of language arts improvement and consistency. As with anything, your ability in English takes practice to remain acute and strong. Sometimes, all you need is a push in the right direction, with someone there to keep you accountable and on track with your goals.

My tutoring services are completely dedicated to whatever you may need in the realm of language arts and objective setting. Here are several scenarios when some tutoring might come in handy:

You have been out of practice in writing for several years and are now applying for a new job. Hooray! Now you have to write a professional resume up, as well as a cover letter and email, to send to the head of HR. First impressions are everything!

Your child struggles in school with homework and hates writing essays for his/her classes. They procrastinate until the last second, and as a result, have grades that are suffering tremendously.

You are struggling in college classes with staying on top of essays, especially when it comes time to sit down and fill the page. You have difficulty with forming the rough structure of projects and can rarely find all the words needed to meet your paper requirements.

For any questions about my editing or tutoring services, head over to the contact page and send me a message! The pursuit of bettering yourself and your work is noble, full of adventure, highs, lows, and discovery. And the best part? You don’t have to do it all alone. I look forward to working with you in the future on your new and inspiring projects.
